Raw cashews are obtained from the cashew tree (Anacardium occidentale). This is a tropical evergreen tree, and its main output is the cashew seed and cashew apple. This nut is considered as a cash crop as it is very profitable even as a nut. It can be harvested at an early stage and has greater produce. This tree can grow up to a height of 14 metres, and the smallest height of this tree is around 6 metre.  According to the 2017 data, the global production of cashew nuts was led by Vietnam, India and Ivory Coast with 22%, 19%, and 18% respectively. The botanical name is quite non-conventional, and the nut is known by a lot of common names like pomme de cajour (French), caju (Portuguese), Kaju (India).
